It is almost the end of the first quarter of my Junior year of High School. The saying goes that Junior year is the hardest of them all with the stress of getting a perfect score on your SAT and ACT, maintaining your grades, taking as many AP courses as you can all so you can get into the college of your dreams. After the first day of Junior year, I realized all of this to be true, but I did not fully process the stress level that I was starting to feel at the beginning of this semester. It is hard having to balance schoolwork, a part time job, and trying to keep up with one a blog at the same time. Now don't get me wrong, I love doing all of things, but it is having to find a balance so I can try to have as much of a stress free Junior year as possible. So with all of that said, I wanted to do something a little bit different today and share with you 15 ways on how to relieve some stress, no matter the situation.

1. My number one way to relieve stress and feel better is to talk about whatever the problem is. Let it out. Whether you talk to someone you know or a stranger, your mom or your dad, just talk about it. Honestly, even setting up the camera in my room and talking to myself helped me. I was never even planning on posting the video that I filmed, but I realized that saying things out loud really helps.

2. Waking up early and naming my alarms with positive things so that the first thing I see in the morning puts me in a good mood. Even something as dreadful as the alarm clock becomes positive. My first alarm is called “5 Things You’re Grateful For” so that I think of them right when I wake up.

3. Go for ice cream. Just stop what you’re doing and go get ice cream. Can’t think of a better way to relieve stress than ice cream.

4. Spending face to face time with loved ones. Even if it’s just sitting on the couch watching Netflix.

5. Eating healthy. I am not a great cook (trying to learn, but it’s a slow process), but when I can make myself a healthy meal and it actually tastes good, I get so happy!

6. Working out! Working out on a sports team for some reason was always so hard for me. I never really like the competitive side of it and more so liked just working out for myself. I recently decided instead of working out on a sports team, I instead go every day after school to the gym or go for a run at a local trail. It is such a great way to relieve stress as you can just get everything out and of course come out feeling even better about yourself after. I love yoga, hot polities and even just enjoying a beautiful day by going for a long distance run outside!

7. Listening to music. It has become me and my friends new addiction to make fun playlists to shuffle in the car! It is so fun just to sit down and find music that connects to who you are.

8. Take a hot shower and just sit there with music on.

9. Sleep it off. Every time I wake up, I feel less angry or stressed about whatever was was bothering me.

10. Hiking and being surrounded by nature is another way that makes me feel better.

11. Making sure to get enough sleep. For me, this means that when I have accomplished my goals for the day, that does not always mean I can stay up till midnight to watch a show on netflix, instead, go I have learned to bed and get a good nights sleep so you can refreshed the next day.

12. Set out a plan and follow through. One of the best items in my life is my planner. I take it everywhere with me and it always makes me feel so accomplished when I get to check something off of my to do list.

13. Take a break. Don't forget to enjoy time with your friends and family in the midsts of your hectic life. Sounding myself with great friends and having great time always makes me forget about the crazy amount of work I have and lets me take a little break from life.

14. Call up a friend you don't get to see very often. Even FaceTime. Some of my favorite moments throughout my week is when I get to talk to my friends from around the world and hear about someone else's life and enjoy a good conversation.

15. Make art. Anything can be art. My favorite is sketching fashion illustration.
